Ehrharta setacea subsp. disticha has a restricted range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 214 km². It has no severe threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1 Criteria, globally, as Least Concern but is nationally categorised as Rare.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and occurs from Betty's Bay to the Kleinrivier Mountains near Hermanus in the Western Cape.

Description
It occupies dry rocky places on mountain slopes, 580-1225 m.
Threats
Most of this taxon's habitat is protected. There are sporadic occurrences of alien invasive plants at some locations, which, if not cleared could become a threat to indigenous species.
Population

This subspecies occurs in somewhat localized clumps, but can be locally frequent. The population is not suspected to be declining.
