Justification
Cleretum lyratifolium is a range-restricted, but fairly common species. It is not suspected to be in danger of extinction.

Range
Due to taxonomic uncertainty in Cleretum, it is difficult to confidently define the distribution ranges of species in this genus. This species is known mainly from the Roggeveld Escarpment, but possibly also occurs as far as the Kamiesberg and the Swartruggens region north of Ceres.

Description
It occurs on flats with shale gravel in succulent karoo.
Threats
Parts of this species' range is impacted by overgrazing, but its sensitivity to grazing is not known. Field observations recorded the species present in grazed areas.
