This species is endemic to the Piketberg Mountain in the Western Cape Province, South Africa.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Major habitats
Piketberg Sandstone Fynbos
It occurs on sandy plateaus in fynbos, 500-900 m.
There are no current severe threats to this species, but due to its localized distribution it is potentially vulnerable to habitat loss to dam construction (suitable habitat near one of the two known subpopulations has been lost to dam construction), as well as establishment of fruit orchards, and spreading alien invasive plants.

This species has a highly restricted distribution range, and occurs in small, localized clumps. The population trend is currently stable.
