Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 293 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 64 km². It is known from nine extant locations. Its habitat is declining as a result of rooibos tea cultivation and it is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion B.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape
Range
It is endemic to Northern Cape province of South Africa, and is restricted to the Bokkeveld Mountains.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
Bokkeveld Sandstone Fynbos
Description
It occurs in poorly drained, seasonally wet, deep, sandstone-derived sands.
Threats
This species has lost 37% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). Expansion of rooibos tea cultivation has caused significant habitat loss since 2002, with one confirmed loss of a subpopulation on a farm near Nieuwoudtville to ploughing. This seasonally moist habitat specialist is also potentially sensitive to droughts as a result of climate change.
Population

The population has a decreasing trend and is known from nine extant subpopulations.
