Justification | This montane species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 16 370 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 92 km². It is known from 16 subpopulations, but many more as yet undiscovered subpopulations are likely to exist. With no recorded threats, it is listed as Least Concern. |

Range | It is widespread but fairly rare in the mountains of southern Western Cape, South Africa. It is found from the Great Swartberg between Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort, and also on the Kammanassie Mountains and the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains, from Robinson's Pass to Witte Els Berg. |

Description | It occurs in stony sandstone ground, evidently in damp situations, including seeps and stream banks in mountain fynbos. |

It has no known threats; however, some parts of its range continue to be degraded by the spread of alien invasive plants and inappropriate fire management. |
