Justification
This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 18 451 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 192 km². It is known from 47 locations. It has lost a majority of its habitat to crop cultivation and urban development. Loss of habitat is ongoing throughout its range. It is therefore listed as Near Threatened, almost meeting criteria B to be listed as Vulnerable.

It is fairly common in southern Western Cape, extending from the Cape Peninsula eastward to Caledon, Bredasdorp, and north to the Tulbagh Valley and Worcester.

Description
It occurs on wet, sandy flats, marshes and streambanks.
Threats
This subspecies has lost 57% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). More than half of known locations have been lost to urban development and crop cultivation. There is ongoing loss of habitat to crop cultivation and urban development. It is also experiencing habitat degradation due to invasive alien plants.
