Known from five locations from a total of 650 mature individuals. It has lost subpopulations to crop cultivation in the past and remains potentially threatened by alien plant invasion.
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Kammanassie, Swartberg, Gamkaberg and Langeberg Mountains.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Major habitats
South Kammanassie Sandstone Fynbos, North Outeniqua Sandstone Fynbos, North Langeberg Sandstone Fynbos
Moist sandy soils.
Parts of this species' habitat has been ploughed in the past, and it is likely that subpopulations have been lost. Currently, plants remain at five locations but it appears that habitat loss has ceased. This species however remains potentially threatened by expanding crop cultivation and competition from alien invasive plants, which are present in the area.
