EOO and AOO 11 km², five known remaining locations are declining due to ongoing habitat loss for vineyard and wheat cultivation.

Description
Succulent karoo, on sandy and stony lower slopes and flats, which become temporarily inundated during infrequent heavy winter rainfall.
Threats
This highly range-restricted species' habitat is impacted by crop cultivation and livestock grazing, 33% has already been ploughed, and significant loss continues (8% was lost between 1990 and 2014). One of the largest colonies, of the few known, was recently ploughed and turned into a wheat field (Craib 2001).
