Justification
A widespread species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 61 175 km². While a low level of decline due to habitat degradation as a result of the spread of invasive alien plants is taking place, this species remains common and occurs at many locations, it is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This taxon is endemic to the Cape Floristic region of South Africa where it occurs from the Cold Bokkeveld Mountains in the west to the Tsitsikamma Mountains in the east.
