Status and Criteria
C.H. Stirton, D. Raimondo, N.A. Helme & L. von Staden
Widespread in montane areas where it is not threatened.
South African endemic
Hawequas Mountains to Kogelberg and the Langeberg near Suurbraak.
Habitat and Ecology
Shallow sandy soils among rocks in montane fynbos, 460-1660 m.
This species is a habitat specialist occurring in scattered subpopulations, but can be locally common. Recent field observations significantly extended the distribution range, indicating that it may be overlooked and more frequent than records suggest. It occurs in montane areas where there are little to no threats, and the population is therefore not suspected to be declining.
