Justification
A widespread, but rare and localized habitat specialist, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 24 459 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 60 - 100 km². Invasive species pose a direct and potential future threat to this species. It is known from 10 locations but is likely to occur in a few more as there are yet unsurveyed locations. With 10 to 15 locations possible it is listed as Near Threatened under criterion B.

Threats
Currently, this species' habitat is being degraded by invasive species in particular Hakea sericea. Certain areas are directly impacted by infestations, and others are at risk of future infestations. Areas of particular concern are the Jonkershoek and Hawequas Nature Reserves. Droughts may pose a potential threat in the future as climate change worsens and may lead to a lack of water in the streams.
