Population

This species is rare and localized in South Africa, where it is known from three locations within a small area on the coastal plain east of Alexander Bay, and is declining across its range due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation. In Namibia it is known from a single location, about 130 km north of the South African population. It possibly occurs in the area in between, which is a mining area with limited access, and is botanically poorly explored.
