Justification
A widespread species which has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 22 427 km², with several subpopulations occurring in protected areas. It is not known to be declining and is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Description
It occupies a wide range of vegetation types including fynbos, grassy fynbos, semi-arid renosterveld and succulent karoo and it is usually found on rocky exposed mountain slopes.
Threats
The main threats to the species include the spread of invasive alien plant species, agricultural expansion and timber plantations. About 17% of this species' habitat has been irreversibly transformed.
Population

This species is known from many subpopulations with no significant declines in the number of subpopulations or mature individuals recorded. The overall population trend is stable.
