Justification
This species is widespread and has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 38 472km². It is threatened by agriculture in the Western end of its distribution range in the Ruens area but there are no significant threats recorded through the majority of its distribution range. It is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Range
This species occurs in Mid Breede River Valley, Burgers pass near Montagu to Stormsvlei and eastwards along the southern foothills of the Langeberg and Outeniqua mountains. In the Tsitsikamma mountains, it stretches as far east as Suurberg near Alicedale and the lower Langkloof mountains. Inland it can be found on the Kammanassie mountains and southern foothills of the Rooiberg in the Little Karoo.

Description
It grows in cooler south facing stony clay slopes in renosterveld and grassy fynbos.
Threats
It is threatened by the spread of alien invasive plant species which impacts the quality of the habitat negatively. There are areas in the central and Eastern Ruens that have been lost to agricultural expansion.
Population

A total of 117 records have been posted on iNaturalist between 2017 and 2023, an indication that this species is relatively common. The population trend is inferred to be stable.
