Threats
A small proportion of the western part of this species' range in South Africa is affected by severe overgrazing, but its preference for rocky slopes and crevices is likely to offer it some protection against the effects of trampling and erosion. Subpopulations in the eastern, more remote parts of the Richtersveld are not threatened, and its habitat in Namibia is well-protected.
Population

This species has a limited distribution range in South Africa, but is fairly common in this area. It is also widespread and common across southern Namibia.
