Threats
Rooibos tea cultivation is a severe ongoing threat to this species as Rooibos is cultivated only in sandy soils, the habitat of this species. Although this species has been recorded to occur in old agricultural lands it is unlikely that there are many abandoned fields as the Rooibos industry is thriving. It is also not known if the plants can still survive in cultivated fields after repeated ploughing, it may well be that the plants seen in old fields were growing in fields that had just been ploughed once and left to recover.
