Selago peduncularis is widespread with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 7500 km². It is not known to be declining, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is a Pondoland endemic, found from Oribi Gorge to Magwa Gorge.

Description
It occurs in flats and gentle slopes in coastal grassland.
Threats
Pondoland Coastal grasslands are extensively transformed by heavy grazing and subsistence agriculture, however, in spite of this, Selago peduncularis is still relatively common and does not appear to be declining.
