South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape

Terrestrial
Major habitats
Goariep Mountain Succulent Shrubland, Central Richtersveld Mountain Shrubland
Description
Rocky slopes and stony places, from foothills to upper slopes.
Threats
This species occurs in more remote, mountainous areas where overgrazing is not yet such a severe threat, but as the vegetation on lower slopes and flats closer to settlements become increasingly depleted, livestock herds are likely to move into these areas more frequently in future.
Population
Population trend
Stable
Notes
Hilliard (1999) mentions a historical collection from the Vanrhynsdorp district, a disjunction of several hundred kilometres from all other known records of this species, which suggest that it is endemic to the Richtersveld. It is likely a misinterpretation of the locality, 'Doornpoort', misplacing it in the Vanrhynsdorp district, when it more likely refers to Doornpoort south of Kuboes.
