Description
It occurs on lower stony slopes with clay soils.
Threats
Selago fourcadei is highly palatable and often grazed down to small stumps (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010). A large area of the Little Karoo is severely overgrazed, particularly the lower slopes. Woody shrubs are able to persist under heavy grazing, but growth and recruitment can be severely limited. They are able to recover if the veld is rested. A large number of recent observations indicate that this species still persists in spite of grazing pressure.
Population

This species occurs sporadically in clayey soils in Gwarrieveld (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010).
