Family | SCROPHULARIACEAE |
National Status |
Status and Criteria | Critically Endangered B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) |
Assessment Date | 2019/11/11 |
Assessor(s) | D. Raimondo, A.P. Dold & K.E. Steiner |
Justification | Diascia ramosa is known from a single location where it is threatened by competition from alien invasive plants. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are both estimated to be smaller than 10 km². It is therefore listed as Critically Endangered under criterion B. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Eastern Cape |

Diascia ramosa is under threat from alien invasive plants. Invasive plants are spreading across the southern slopes and summit of the Boschberg, and are outcompeting native species. |
Population |
This species is known from a single location, where it was last recorded in 1994. The current size and status of the population is not known, but it is assumed to be declining, due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation. Field surveys are needed to obtain better information on the population of this species.
