Two known locations, about 1 km apart, are potentially threatened by soil erosion and trampling by livestock. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.

Description
Plants grow in loamy renosterveld soils.
Threats
Soil erosion has been reported at Doringkloof, this site has a huge donga that runs below the subpopulation which remains a potential threat. No decline has been observed yet (J. Vlok, 2006). Trampling by livestock especially at Springfontein is a potential threat, however no decline has been observed yet (J. Vlok). This species is not yet collected. The property where this species occurs is now being sought by a game farmer. There is no sound future for these plants (J. Vlok, pers. comm. 2023).
