Description
Rocky slopes and ridges in high altitude serpentiniferous grasslands, as well as disturbed roadsides, erosion gulleys and mining sites.
Threats
About 35% of this species' habitat is currently irreversibly modified, predominantly to commercial timber plantations and mining. Expansion of timber plantations is limited, but there is renewed interest in mining in the area, with a number of prospecting applications under review. The impact of mines is however small (Balkwill et al. 2011). This species is somewhat tolerant of disturbance, and is unlikely to be declining due to habitat degradation.
Population

This species has a limited distribution range, but is fairly common within this area, and is currently known from at least 14 subpopulations, although some of them are quite small (Balkwill et al. 2011). Although some of its habitat is under threat, it is not suspected to be in decline. Many subpopulations are protected within formally protected areas.
