Assessment Date
2013/05/29
Assessor(s)

Justification
An apparently rare and very poorly known species. It has been collected only twice in South Africa from two highly disjunct areas, and once from Lesotho, with the most recent collection dating from 1977. No precise locality details were given, and this species' habitat requirements are poorly understood. Not enough is known about its population status and trends to determine its status.
Distribution
Endemism
Not endemic to South Africa
Provincial distribution
Gauteng, Limpopo
Range
Haenertsburg, Pretoria and in Lesotho.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
Grassland
Description
Montane grassland.
Threats
Quite possibly locally extinct due to habitat loss to urban expansion in the Pretoria area, where it was last collected in 1933. Around Haenertsburg it is likely to be threatened by habitat loss to timber plantations.
