Justification
This grass is another narrow endemic to the Roggeveld Centre of Endemism (EOO <100 km²). It may have been more common in the past, but has declined extensively due to overgrazing, and is now known from only two locations.

Description
Roggeveld Shale Renosterveld.
Threats
Severely threatened by extreme overgrazing, which has already led to the near-extinction of another endemic from the area, Secale strictum subsp. africanum. The last known collection is from a road reserve, where plants have escaped grazing.
Population

This apparently very rare species is another narrow endemic to the Roggeveld Centre of Endemism, and is likely to have declined extensively in the past, although it is not possible to estimate the population reduction, as the species was only recently recognized. It is very likely that only a few relict subpopulations remain in areas where they are protected from grazing such as road reserves.
