Justification
Delosperma karrooicum is endemic to the Great Escarpment mountains of the Eastern Cape, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 21 754 km². Surveys of these mountains between 2005 and 2010 found more than 15 subpopulations that are often locally abundant. There are no significant threats and therefore it is not in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to the Eastern Cape in South Africa, where it occurs from the Kamdeboo Mountains near Aberdeen to the Winterberge south of Tarkastad, also occurring in the Stormberge near Molteno.

Description
It occurs on summit plateaus and steep upper slopes in montane shrubland and grassland.
Threats
This species has no significant threats, it mostly occurs in montane habitats where there are few competing land uses.
Population

Recent collections (2005-2010) indicate that Delosperma karrooicum is locally abundant or common. No threats or disturbances were recorded to be impacting this species, the population is therefore assumed to be stable.
