Justification
Nenax arenicola is widespread, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 20 787 km². It is an uncommon species, and is declining in parts of its range, but is not yet in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in Namaqualand, from near Hondeklipbaai to Graafwater.

Description
It occurs on sandy flats near the coast, and on stony foothills.
Threats
Nenax arenicola is threatened by habitat loss to mining on the Namaqualand coast, and agricultural expansion in the Sandveld. About 20% of this species' habitat is already irreversibly modified, and this loss continues.
Population

It is uncommon in sand fynbos, and it is declining in parts of its range.
