Description
It occurs in sandy and gravelly slopes in dry mountain fynbos.
Threats
Nenax divaricata has lost some habitat to rooibos tea cultivation on the Gifberg, but this has affected only a very small proportion of its habitat (16%). There is some ongoing expansion of crop fields, but only very sporadically, there has been less than 2% habitat loss recorded over the past 30 years, and it is unlikely to put this species in danger of extinction.
Population

It is a widespread, but very rarely recorded species. It is likely to be overlooked, rather than rare or threatened.
