Justification | Nenax divaricata is a widespread species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 7259 km². It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Northern Cape, Western Cape |
Range | This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found from the Bokkeveld Escarpment to the Hottentots Holland Mountains. |
Habitat and Ecology |

Description | It occurs in sandy and gravelly slopes in dry mountain fynbos. |
Threats |
Nenax divaricata has lost some habitat to rooibos tea cultivation on the Gifberg, but this has affected only a very small proportion of its habitat (16%). There is some ongoing expansion of crop fields, but only very sporadically, there has been less than 2% habitat loss recorded over the past 30 years, and it is unlikely to put this species in danger of extinction. |
Population |
It is a widespread, but very rarely recorded species. It is likely to be overlooked, rather than rare or threatened.
