Justification
A highly localized taxon, with a population estimated to consist of fewer than 1000 mature individuals confined to an area of 441 km², and declining due to ongoing habitat loss to agricultural expansion outside the boundaries of the Kruger National Park.

Threats
Fifty-seven percent of this taxon's Extent of Occurrence is protected within Kruger National Park, however, in areas outside the park, it is affected by ongoing habitat loss to expanding agriculture, particularly banana and sugarcane cultivation, with habitat loss increasing by 7% in the past 15 years.
Population

A range-restricted and extremely rare taxon, with only three plants found within 200-300 hectares of undisturbed habitat surveyed. The total population size is estimated to number fewer than 1000 mature individuals.
