Justification | Mesembryanthemum pallens subsp. lutea is a range-restricted, but fairly common subspecies, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 4624 km². It has lost significant amounts of habitat to crop cultivation across its range, but is resilient to disturbance and not suspected to be in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Western Cape |
Range | This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in Vredenburg Peninsula and Sandveld coast south of Elandsbaai. |
Habitat and Ecology |

Threats |
More than 40% of this taxon's habitat has been lost to crop fields, and rapid loss is ongoing, particularly in the Sandveld. It is however resilient to disturbance, and able to recolonise old lands, and therefore population decline due to crop cultivation is not likely to be irreversible. |
