A rare, range restricted habitat specialist, whose extent of occurrence (EOO) is 52 km², that is not threatened. It therefore qualifies for listing nationally as Rare and is Least Concern according to the IUCN 3.1. criteria.

It occurs on sandstone slopes near streams, in shade.
Threats
There are no severe threats to this species (P. Goldblatt pers. obs.).
Population

This is an unusual, rare, and highly localized habitat specialist. It is known from three subpopulations within a very small area in the vicinity of Pakhuis Pass, in the northern Cederberg. The population is stable.
