Although rare in South Africa, this species is widespread elsewhere in Africa and not threatened.

Range
In South Africa known only from a single record from Ngoye Forest. The closest known other subpopulations occur on the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. The species is also widespread across tropical Africa.
