Description
Transition between thicket and renosterveld on shales.
Threats
More than 80% of renosterveld within this species' range has been transformed for crop cultivation and only small fragments remain. Natural fire regimes have been completely altered by fragmentation of the habitat, and the population is suspected to be declining due to a lack of fire. Two plants that are confined to a road reserve are also in danger of being extirpated by indiscriminate road verge clearing. This is likely to cause the local extinction of the subpopulation as no plants can be found in the privately owned land across the fence.
Population

Wiborgiella fasciculata is a rare and localized species. Suitable habitat within the known range of this species is extensively transformed, and there are currently only two small, severely fragmented subpopulations known. One subpopulation of 13 plants occur in a 6 ha fragment surrounded by crop fields, and two more plants have been found in a 0.2 ha road reserve near Herbertsdale. Searches in adjacent areas did not record any other individuals.
