This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 8224 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 44 km². It does not face any known threats and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and occurs along the northern foothills of the Swartberg mountains, locally in the Kammanassie mountains of the Little Karoo, and in the Long Kloof to the south in the vicinity of Joubertina.

Description
It occurs in shale soils on south facing slopes, and in moist, rocky, sandy loams.
Threats
This taxon has no known threats.
Population

It is found at 11 subpopulations. In 1959, 1983 and 1985, it was recorded as locally common, however, recent records do not give an indication of population size. The population is inferred to be stable.
