A South African endemic with a wide distribution range (extent of occurrence 29 817 km²), known from many locations with minimal threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is relatively widespread in the western Karoo in the Northern Cape. It extends from the Bokkeveld Mountains in the north to the Roggeveld and in the Tanqua and Doorn River basins, the northern Cederberg and Gifberg Mountains in Western Cape.

Description
It occurs in stony, sandy or clay ground.
Threats
Its habitat continues to decline due to degradation by grazing livestock and competition from alien invasive species. However, these threats are not severe enough to be considered serious.
