This Northern Cape endemic has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 16 419 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 60 km². It is known from between 12 to 14 subpopulations and does not face any threats. Therefore, it is listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is relatively common and widespread in central and northern Namaqualand in the Northern Cape, extending from near Springbok in the north to middle elevations in the Kamiesberg.

Population

This species is relatively common in its habitat. No quantitative population data are available for this species. It is known in herbaria from 20 collections with a date range of 1883 to 2009. The population is inferred to be stable.
