Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 379 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 36 km². It is known from five locations. Even though it is locally common and partly conserved in a nature reserve, it was and remains potentially threatened by dam expansion and road widening. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criteria D.

It is a very narrow endemic of South Africa, known from the southern and eastern foot and lower slopes of the Hantamsberg and the adjacent Keiskieberge near Calvinia, Northern Cape.

Description
It occurs in renosterveld, on shale flats, favouring soils derived from dolerite.
Threats
Part of its distribution area falls within the Akkerendam Nature Reserve; the species occupies such a restricted area however, that road widening or extension of the Akkerendam Dam in the reserve could immediately endanger this species (P. Goldblatt, pers. comm.).
