Justification
Hesperantha huttonii has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 611 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 56 km². It is locally fairly common, and has no severe threats. It is therefore not in danger of extinction, and is listed as Least Concern.

It is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the Amathole Mountains in the Eastern Cape, and Katberg to Adelaide and along the coast in the northern parts of the province.

Description
This species occurs along forest margins, often in light shade, in clearings and on rock outcrops.

There is no information available on the population of this species. It is known from eight subpopulations and the population is stable.

Notes
Two collections from the Eastern Cape coast near Port St Johns were provisionally included in H. huttonii (Goldblatt 2003), but they do not match specimens from the Amathole Mountains exactly and possibly represent an undescribed species.
