This widespread species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 340 265 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 468 km². It is listed as Least Concern.

It is widespread in South Africa, extending from the Richtersveld in the Northern Cape through the Western Cape to East London in the Eastern Cape.

Description
It often occurs on S-trending clay or clay loam slopes.
Threats
It has lost a small portion of its habitat due to agriculture and the habitat is becoming degraded due to fires and livestock, and competition from invasive alien species.
Population

This species is widespread and is known from over 40 subpopulations. The population is stable.
