This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of between 135 822-195 010 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 84-92 km². It is known from at least 20 subpopulations, with no reported threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
It is largely a species of the southern Karoo and adjacent interior mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa, extending from Somerset East, Murraysburg and Graaff-Reinet eastward to Grahamstown and into western Free State and as far north as De Aar in Northern Cape.
