Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 27 657 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 164 km². It is known from at least 25 subpopulations and is not threatened. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, extending through northern Namaqualand from the southern Richtersveld near Kosies to the Kamiesberg and in the Bokkeveld Mountains in the Northern Cape.

Description
It occurs typically in deep sand or stony ground and sometimes very common in fallow or shallowly tilled fields.
Threats
This species is not under threat.
Population

It is known from between 15 and 20 subpopulations, and is not under threat. This species has had 117 observations posted by citizen scientists on the iNaturalist platform between 2011 and 2023 from across its known range, from these observations we infer that the population is locally common, stable and not declining.
