This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 69 192 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 176 km². It is known from at least 30 locations, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and is relatively widespread in the South African winter-rainfall region, extending from the Bokkeveld Mountains in Northern Cape to the Cape Peninsula and east to Cloete's Pass and the Swartberg Mountains in Western Cape.

Description
It occurs on a variety of soils, often in renosterveld.
Threats
This species has lost a small portion of suitable habitat to agriculture (crops and livestock), infrastructure development (dams), and invasive alien species.

It is known from at least 30 subpopulations. The population size is currently unknown but the population is inferred to be stable.
