This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) of 8 km², and is known from two locations. It is potentially threatened by livestock overgrazing and trampling, and is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.

Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and is poorly documented. It is known for certain from the farm Perdekraal, northwest of Calvinia in Northern Cape, and from hills and flats north of Hantamsberg.

Description
It occurs on dolerite outcrops in heavy red clay.
Threats
This species has an extremely localised extent of occurrence and area of occupancy so a relatively minor local event could severely reduce the size of this population, and the species could become threatened with extinction. Overgrazing and trampling by livestock is a potential threat.
