Justification
This species is a restricted endemic with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 94 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 32 km². The construction of the Brandvlei Dam caused the loss of a portion of a subpopulation. It is now known from four locations. Loss to vineyard expansion is ongoing. It is therefore listed as Endangered under criteria B.

It is endemic to the Western Cape Province of South Africa, and is found in the vicinity of Brandvlei, between Worcester and Villiersdorp.

Description
It occurs in sand among sandstone rocks.
Threats
This species has lost 51% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). Building of the Brandvlei Dam caused the loss of a portion of the population in the past. It is also under threat from agricultural expansion, which is a past, present and future threat to the species' habitat.
Population

It is known from one population that occurs at 4 locations. Approximately 50% of the population occurs within the Brandvlei Nature Reserve, and the remaining part of the population occurs on surrounding wine farms it has been recorded on the farms De Grip, Draaivlei and Moddergat. There is no information available on the size of the population.
