Large areas of fynbos on deep sandy, nutrient poor soils that previously have been unsuitable for cultivation have been ploughed up to grow the fynbos endemic, Aspalathus linearis (Rooibos tea).
Population

There is not much known about the population of this species. It is found at five known locations. In 2008, it was observed as being uncommon.
