Justification
This is a rare and poorly known species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 13 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 8 km². It is currently known from a single subpopulation from a remote area of Namaqualand, but is quite likely more common and widespread as the area remains poorly explored. As there are no threats to this species it is listed nationally as Rare and globally as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs in sandy soils in crevices on rocky ridges.
Threats
This species occurs in a remote area where there are no severe threats.
Population

This rare and poorly known species was previously known from a single collection, with imprecise locality information. It was thought to be from the Richtersveld area (Goldblatt and Manning 2007), but it was discovered in a remote area of eastern Namaqualand (Goldblatt and Manning 2012). The area is botanically very poorly explored, and it is likely that more subpopulations exist.
