Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 121 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 16 km². It is known from four locations, and is experiencing continuing habitat loss due to expanding potato cultivation. It is potentially threatened by costal development and mining, and is therefore listed as Endangered under criteria B.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the Western Cape Province between Velddrif and Lambert's Bay.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system

Major habitats
Lambert's Bay Strandveld, Leipoldtville Sand Fynbos
Description
It occurs on flat sandy ground in strandveld along the coast.
Threats
This highly range-restricted species has lost 47% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). The main threat is ongoing habitat loss due to expanding potato cultivation. It is potentially threatened by coastal development - the development pressure in this more remote part of the West Coast is not yet as high as to the south of Velddrif. It is also potentially threatened by highly destructive open cast mining of dune minerals.
Population

This species is known from four subpopulations. The first being 10 km south of Lambert's Bay, the second in Lambert's Bay, the third in the Clanwilliam District between Elandsbaai and Lambert's Bay, and the fourth, on the burnt slope S of Leipoldtville. There is no indication of the size of any of the subpopulations.
