Threats
A few known locations are in areas impacted by expanding crop cultivation such as the Bokkeveld Plateau, the Olifants River Valley and the plains south-east of Vanrhynsdorp. However, this species' preference for rocky soils and steep slopes means that it occurs in a habitat unsuitable to ploughing. Most subpopulations are in areas unaffected by any human pressure, and only 20% of its range is currently irreversibly modified.
Population

It is a widespread and common species, with a stable population trend.
