This Cape endemic is widespread and has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2 251 km². It is not in danger of extinction and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
Babiana striata is endemic to South Africa, and is widespread in Namaqualand, Northern Cape, extending from the southern Richtersveld to Nuwerus in the Western Cape.

Description
It occurs on stony and gravel slopes at lower elevations.
Threats
The threats to the species are unknown, but some parts of this species' range have been lost to crop cultivation in the past.
Population

Occasional on hills (Lewis 1959). This species occurs in a remote and poorly explored area and is likely to be more common than records indicate.
