Justification
This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 15 298 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 100 km². It is known from between 16 and 20 subpopulations and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and occurs in Western Cape throughout the range of the species and historically recorded as far west as the Cape Peninsula but now possibly extinct there and encountered mainly between Caledon and Bredasdorp and Struisbaai, but also occurring in populations further east near Swellendam, Riversdale, Albertinia and Mossel Bay.

Description
Plants grow on stony clay or granitic soils mainly in renosterveld scrub, rarely on limestone in fynbos, now largely restricted to road verges or stony sides.
Threats
This species has no known threats.
