Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 28 701 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 88 km². It is known from 10 small subpopulations. It is always scarce where found and it is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concerned but is nationally recognised as Rare.

Range
It is a local endemic of dry inland basins in Western Cape, South Africa, recorded from the northern half of the Tanqua Karoo and further east in the western Great Karoo between Prince Albert and Beaufort West.

Description
It occurs in a variety of vegetation types on gravel flats in washes and drainage lines, flowering in winter and responding rapidly to early winter rains that fall erratically.
